Classification of Entrance Matting
The entrance matting can be generally classified into two types, the absorbent matting and the non absorbent matting. Absorbent matting will be used in those areas where there is a chance of liquid spill. These absorbent mats will be made up of a turfed textile which has a rubber backing. This is to ensure that the liquids which are absorbed by these mats will not pass back to the floor.
This will help in the protection of the floor from the liquid spills. This absorbent nature of the matting will ensure that wetness will not spread around the building’s entrance, thereby making the area skid proof and safe. The non absorbent matting will be used in those areas where there is only a remote chance of liquid spill. This matting will have an exclusive fingertip surface which has the ability to scrap the dirt off the shoe bottoms.
